Do you really need the web?

DO YOU REALLY NEED THE WEB? IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?

There are numerous questions that need to be answered when considering setting up a web site for your company. Here are some thoughts to consider while making that decision.

1. Decide whether the Web is even right for you. Take this test:

Does my product or service reach a widely disbursed or national audience?
Does my company's product or service have international potential?
Are my sales executives widely disbursed?
Does my company have the ability to sell direct or take on new accounts nationwide?
Does my product or service change frequently, thereby requiring numerous printed updates?
Do we encourage client response in my business?
Are courier charges something I'm concerned with in my business?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Web may be the place for you. But what do you really need....and what can you really afford?

2. Prepare yourself and your company for the online plunge by
asking yourself these questions:

What is my understanding of multimedia?
What are my objectives here and how will I measure them?
Who is my primary audience?  Who is my secondary audience?
What internal support is given to this project?
What is my budget?
What is my desired completion date?
What additional changes will be required?  What attending costs will be incurred here?
What level of "buy in" do I have from my internal people?
Who will carry out the checks and balances required?
How do I intend to measure the effectiveness of this project?

OK? Now it's time to go mano a mano with some web developers.
